Having been a musician since the early 1980's and cousin to Jeanie C. Riley
(singer of the 1968 hit song "Harper Valley PTA"), Michael D. Bradshaw is no
stranger to music equipment. One day, during a recording project in 2003, he
borrowed a pair of PA speakers from a friend. The speakers had been
stored in a portable
building and when they went to get them, they were
dusty and dirty, with what looked like dead grass all over them. In the words
of Michael, "they looked like someone mowed the lawn beside them!" Then he
said, "you know, if you had covers for these, they wouldn't look like this".
Michael, who had experience using sewing equipment, thought "hey, I can do
that"... And the idea was born!

Michael realized that the only covers available in music stores were the thin,
cheaply made and expensive vinyl covers provided by most amp manufacturers. So,
he searched and found a more durable material - PVC-backed Polyester (a
material which has vinyl on the inside and a tough Polyester weave on the
outside} - and he purchased a 50 yard roll. About the same time,

Michael was
working on developing another idea he had several years before… a belt buckle
cover to protect the back of your guitar. One of the names he devised for the
product was the "Buckle Shield". From that, he came up with the idea of
incorporating the "B" and "S" from "Buckle Shield" into a logo, which finally
resulted in the logo we use today. Since the logo said "BS", he decided to use
"BS Enterprises" for his company name. The letters literally mean nothing.

Since they were readily available, Michael began by producing covers for
equipment that he owned. He then listed the items on eBay. However, his first
sale was not one of those items… A gentleman sent an email asking if Michael
could make covers for his two 2x12 custom cabs. The gentleman sent the
dimensions, the covers were produced and shipped, and he was very satisfied.
Realizing that he required a larger product base than just a few covers,
Michael visited several Houston area music stores and recorded the measurements
of
every guitar amp they had in stock, listed the items on eBay, and business has
continued growing and growing ever since!
